Inas Sediq uses motion, through
organic growth, to capture the emotional aspect of work that is constantly
reinventing itself. For In a furnished flat in Cairo she
relies on the use of living beings that are not visible to the naked
eye like bacteria and fungi to show the processes of organic growth
through the different biological operations. Through feeding, they
grow and breathe and excrete. And all this is visible in an organic
culture full of natural colors. There is an immense strength in the
process despite its slow pace and the size of the organisms involved.
Inas Sediq (1977) is a researcher in the Department of Design
in the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University, Cairo. Her latest
works have been exhibited in the 28th National Exhibition, the 15th
edition of the Youth Salon and the 6th edition of the Salon of Small
Art Works in Cairo (2003). |
